“Bugio” Lighthouse, Oeiras
Another look at the Tower, from the Fortress “S. Julião da Barra”.
The toponymy “bugio” can be attributed, among other versions, the French word to “bougie” (candle), due to the similarity of its structure and the primitive circular tower topped by lighthouse, like a lighted candle on his candlestick.

Farol do Bugio, Oeiras
A toponímia “bugio” pode ser atribuída, entre outras versões, ao francês bougie (vela), devido à semelhança da sua estrutura circular e da primitiva torre encimada pelo farol, como uma vela acesa sobre o seu castiçal.

I know, I know … but I feel at ease because I’m vegetarian. So let’s look at “McDonald’s Oeiras Mar”, the cutest I know!!!
Beachfront of “Santo Amaro de Oeiras”, with amazing views of the Lighthouse “Torre do Bugio”, I can stay there wondering, but also working, on the internet free or chatting with friends… Eat & drink? Yes, of course! The great portuguese soup called “sopa da pedra” or a delicious “pastel de nata” and one or two black coffees, always. Hope you’ll join me sometime 🙂

Bem sei, bem sei… mas sinto-me à vontade porque sou vegetariana. Por isso, vejamos o McDonald’s Oeiras Mar, o mais giro que conheço!
Frente à Praia de “Santo Amaro de Oeiras”, com a incrível vista sobre o Farol do Bugio, sou capaz de ficar lá horas a admirar, mas também a trabalhar, a conversar com amigos ou na internet gratuita… Comer e beber? Sim, claro!!! A óptima sopa da pedra ou um delicioso pastel de nata e uma ou duas bicas, sempre. Espero vê-los por aqui, um dia destes 🙂
“Bugio” Tower is composed of the “Forte de São Lourenço” and the “Bugio” Lighthouse, located at the mouth of the Tagus river where it joins the Atlantic Ocean and dates from the late seventeenth century, having been completed in the reign of King John IV.
A Torre do Bugio é constituída pelo Forte de São Lourenço e pelo Farol Bugio, situa-se na foz do rio Tejo, na confluência com o Oceano Atlântico e data de finais do século XVII, tendo sido concluída no reinado de D. João IV.
