Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, Portuguese Painter

Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, Portuguese painter, born in Manhufe, Amarante, November 14, 1887 .

He was a precursor of modern art, pursuing the path traced by the artists avant-garde of his time. Although having had a short life, his work became immortal.
He attended the Architecture course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lisbon in 1905 which interrupted to go to Paris in 1906, settling in Montparnasse, taking first contact with Impressionism and then Cubism and Expressionism with, engaged, thus exclusively to painting.
Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso explored expressionism and his recent work experiments with new forms and techniques such as collages and other forms of artistic expression.

On 25 October 1918, 31 year old dies prematurely in Espinho, victim of “pneumonic” that raged in Portugal.

“Portugal dos Pequenitos”
Portugal for the Little Ones
Extraordinary project of the architect Cassiano Branco, at the initiative of Professor Bissaya Barreto, is located in “Coimbra” and was inaugurated in 1940.
Since then remain as one of the most visited Theme Park intended to children in the country, with about 400,000 visitors a year. The quality of architectural and sculptural art at “Portugal for the Little Ones” remains a national historic landmark and teaching.
The Park built on a smaller scale, is organized into three distinct zones, but complementary:
1st – Set of typical houses of each region and the specific core of Coimbra.
2nd – Monumental area represented by the most important national monuments.
3rd – Area of ethnographic former overseas provinces, with natural vegetation of these regions and the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores.
“Portugal for the Little Ones” runs through generations of Portuguese, who consider it their invaluable heritage and cherish their memories of happy, with great tenderness.

Portugal dos Pequenitos
Projecto superior do arquitecto Cassiano Branco, por iniciativa do professor Bissaya Barreto, situa-se em Coimbra e foi inaugurada em 1940. Desde então mantêm-se como um dos Parques temáticos destinados ao público infantil em particular, mais visitados do país, com cerca de 400 mil visitantes por ano. Pela qualidade da arte escultórica e arquitetónica, o “Portugal dos Pequenitos” continua a ser uma referência histórica e pedagógica nacional.
O parque construído em escala reduzida, está organizado em três zonas distintas, mas complementares:
1ª- Conjunto de casa típicas de cada região do país e o núcleo específico de Coimbra.
2ª- Área monumental representada pelos monumentos nacionais mais importantes.
3ª- Espaço etnográfico das ex províncias ultramarinas, com vegetação natural dessas regiões e dos arquipélagos da Madeira e dos Açores.
O “Portugal dos Pequenitos” atravessa hoje e para o futuro gerações de portugueses, que o consideram como seu inestimável património e o acarinham entre as suas memórias felizes, com imensa ternura.
