“Like a candle in the…” sea!

“Bugio” Lighthouse, Oeiras
Another look at the Tower, from the Fortress “S. Julião da Barra”.
The toponymy “bugio” can be attributed, among other versions, the French word to “bougie” (candle), due to the similarity of its structure and the primitive circular tower topped by lighthouse, like a lighted candle on his candlestick.

A toponímia “bugio” pode ser atribuída, entre outras versões, ao francês bougie (vela), devido à semelhança da sua estrutura circular e da primitiva torre encimada pelo farol, como uma vela acesa sobre o seu castiçal.
